So far so good with our new solar system! James, our solar advisor, happened to contact us on the right day. We had just racked up almost $1000 in electric bills over a 3-month period and was ready to do something about it. Having explored solar to some degree, I decided to listen to what James had to offer and was pleasantly surprised to hear the package they offered.
No money out of pocket, system ownership, monthly savings over our electric bill, tax credits, etc. What's the catch? Well, so far there doesn't seem to be any. James helped us find a company to handle the entire install, HOA approval, city permits, inspection, etc., in a speedy and professional manner. James was great with follow-up from start to finish.
In fact, every member of his team I interacted with was friendly and professional. Even the city inspector I spoke with said these guys have it down to a science... making his final inspection job a breeze. I'm not saying this is for everyone, but it seemed to make complete sense for our home.
Time will tell exactly how much we are able to save, but with SDGE raising rates on a regular basis, I expect it will be plenty. By-the-way, California just past legislation requiring all new homes to include solar starting in 2020. Between the electric vehicle we're charging every night, and new solar system, we are pleased to be doing what we can to increase our use of renewable energy and reducing our CO2 emissions.
